Malaga Airport is one of Spains busiest airports - in 2004 it received just over 12 million passengers.There are actually two terminals at the airport, T1 and T2. Terminal 2 is the larger of the two terminals and is the one that about 90% of passengers arrive at. T1 normally receives the flights from Morrocco. The two terminals are connected on the first floor.
The airport is about 8 kms to the west of the City of Malaga and is the principle airport for the Costa del Sol, and the gateway to resorts such as Marbella, Torremolinos, Benalmadena and Puerto Banus.
Taxis can be found directly outside each terminal and there should be a tariff for all journeys on the wall by the taxi rank.
There is a train service at Malaga Airport that runs into the City center or to the west to Fuengirola. To get to the train station you must go to the first floor of either terminal, exit through the glass doors and follow the footbridge over the main road.
Facilities at the airport are pretty good. There are direct buses into the center of Malaga, along the coast to Fuengirola and a "fast bus" to the main bus terminal in Marbella. The fast bus that goes into Marbella doesn't stop and the bus terminal is on the outskirts of the town itself. The fare, however is cheap, at under €4 for the 40 minute journey.
